As you probably know, the Academy Awards are tomorrow. And as you may or may not know, I'm completely obsessed with movies (runs in the family). You can bet I'll be planted on the couch tomorrow night with some popcorn and the pups (who are enormous Meryl Streep fans) watching the action unfold.
There are of course several great movies nominated for awards, but I thought I'd give some love to the movies that didn't make the cut. Or that would never make the cut since the Academy is made up of old white men.
So here's a list of some of my favorite 2011 flicks that weren't nominated (not really in order since I wouldn't be able to decide):
-Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 1 and 2 (on every Harry Potter nerd's list of course)
-Bridesmaids
-The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
-Crazy, Stupid, Love.
-X-men: First Class
-Young Adult
-Thor
-Super 8
-Captain America
-Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
And a few that almost made my list:
-Source Code
-Rise of the Planet of the Apes
-Hanna
I haven't seen Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy but I think that would make my list too. And it wasn't nominated! What?! I thought it would surely make the list. You never know though.
2012 is looking like it will be a great year for action movies! If you're obsessed with fantasy and superhero flicks (like I might be...ok am), then get ready to be blown away. (I know, blown away by an action movie...that's cheesy humor that isn't funny, Emily. You can thank my parents for that.)
For your viewing pleasure, a few trailers I've been drooling over:
The Hunger Games
The Dark Knight Rises
The Avengers
The Hobbit
The Bourne Legacy
The Amazing Spiderman
Snow White and The Huntsman
Ok, I'll stop now. That was a few more than a few. I guess I'm just a little movie crazed this weekend!
Have a happy Saturday! I bet you'll spend it watching movies now:)

You truly are a Devine! Nice list, I am glad Super 8 made it on there. It was my top movie of 2011. I really liked all the movies on your list (haven't seen young adult yet). Glad you saw the apes movie with us. 2012 should be an amazing year for movies.
ReplyDeleteI think your parents are more the cheesy/funny type.
