Boots in Balboa

My Threads: Dress: TJ Maxx, Jacket: American Eagle Outfitters, Boots: Steve Madden, Scarf: H&M, Bag: street market in Florence, Belt: Forever 21, Watch: Michael Kors, Sunglasses: somewhere in LV

As a Southern California native and a lover of all things sunny, I have a hard time giving up my sundresses every fall. So far, I haven't really needed to this year. It was a crisp 95 degrees here today, so bare legs were a must.

I actually wore this outfit in San Diego last weekend when there was a breeze. This is my solution to wearing sundresses year round. Layers. Okay, I probably didn't come up with that. People have been doing it everywhere always. But it works, so you'll probably see this combination several times this fall. If we ever get a fall. We might just have to skip to winter and throw on some tights.

Anyway, if you're ever planning a trip to San Diego, you should visit Balboa Park. It's gorgeous. And they have the best zoo ever. I never get tired of it.

How do you repurpose summer clothes for cooler months?

Happy Tuesday!

  1. I love San Diego's Zoo!! I went there this summer, and when we saw the Panda exhibit (from the exit point) they were lounging around, but as we walked in, they started moving around and were pretty active (for pandas). It was so awesome!

Love your look! The lace and denim look so good together!

  9. I love how you transitioned the lace dress into fall! This outfit is perfect! I also can't believe it's still in the 90s there! It snowed on the east coast a couple of days ago - brrrr.

  10. I am such a freak for zoos. I'm like a toddler walking around in a grad student's body. Getting more and more jealous of beautiful weather as I sit here turning into an ice cube, so I'm living vicariously through your bare legs! ;)

  14. I love the zoo too! Zoos in general, really. I haven't been disappointed by a single one thus far. I adore your leopard print scarf in this outfit, you really have a knack for putting pieces that go perfectly together! I don't really need to adjust my wardrobe for the colder months since I reside in sunny Singapore where we experience tropical weather yearlong! When I used to live in Canada, though, I had to give up summer clothes almost entirely because it becomes cold all of a sudden. There's no breezy transitional period, and it becomes hard to try and retain some of summer's fun, colorful glory. I usually just find myself diving wholly into my fall/winter wardrobe!

Anyway, beautiful blog. I have followed you, can't wait for updates!
