Wrinkled

Confession: I hate ironing my clothes. I don't mind steaming (if needed at work), I don't mind ironing at my parent's house, and I'll even occasionally get out our obnoxiously low ironing board to get an outfit ready for Marc. But I never iron my own clothes.

Why? I don't have any good reason. 

You can't tell as much in these photos, but this particular outfit looks incredibly wrinkled. Not only did I fail to iron it before I wore it, I took these photos after sitting at my desk in it all day. And this shirt wrinkles way too easily. 

I do love printed skirts and chambray though, so I couldn't resist snapping a couple shots of it anyway. 

Please tell me I'm not alone! Are you a fan of the iron?

A Bright Blazer

Today I'm linking up with the beautiful Marion over at Marionberry Style for her Trend of the Month Challenge! Which is...drum roll...colorful blazers! You probably already figured that out.

I was pretty excited when she announced this seeing as I'm obsessed with bright colors. And blazers. So as you can imagine, I have a few brightly colored blazers.

I usually pair this particular one with neutrals, but I decided to go for mint green today. I'm not sure if I love the look, but it's something different. And that's what blogging is all about, right?

And a note to self: Don't take photos under trees. Makes for some strange lighting.

Fighting My Camera

Okay, so these were the worst of about eight pictures I made my sister take of my outfit the other day. (Actually there was another shot of me mid-sentence that was probably worse than these.) Why am I posting the worst pictures instead of the good ones, you ask? Because my camera is evil. Or maybe my computer is evil, haven't decided which I'm mad at yet. Either way, the better photos decided they never wanted to be seen.

But I had to show off my colorful shirt and dirty puppy, so here ya go. 

On another note, have you ever gotten sick in the summer? Let me just say, it's horrible. After a pretty nice weekend at my parents' house, my stomach decided to freak out on Sunday night. I don't know if it was food poisoning or a little bug, but I spent all of yesterday sick in bed. With a slight fever. In 90 degree weather. Blech.

Ok...so I'm sorry for the crazy photo dump, but I couldn't resist. One year ago, Marc and I were backpacking around Europe. And I can't help but reminisce!

Where did we go, you ask? I think a better question is probably 'where didn't we go?!'

We left two days after our college graduation, and we were gone for five weeks. We went to Paris, Strasbourg, Annecy, Geneva, Venice, Florence, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Canterbury, and London. I think that's everywhere. The train was our best friend...and occasionally our worst nightmare on our trip.

Planning this trip was quite an experience as neither of us had actually ever planned a big trip on our own. And there were so many details! But it was an amazing ride and I'm so grateful we did it before entering the 'real world'.

I think my favorite cities were probably Rome, Barcelona, and London. All of them were pretty amazing though.

Highlights?

• Climbing all the way up the Arc de Triumph...such an amazing view!
• Spending an evening at an outdoor music festival in Strasbourg
• Eating chocolate in Geneva
• Eating gelato (or sorbet) Every. Single. Day. You think I'm kidding...I'm not. 
• Getting lost in Venice
• Pretty much everything in Rome....but especially the Rick Steves night walk
• Seeing David in Florence
• La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona...seriously amazing!!
• Eating tapas in Madrid
• Seeing Harry Potter at the Odeon (theater it premiered at) in London the day it opened. Dream come true...I'm a huge nerd. 
• Harry Potter walking tour in London...in the rain. 
• Wandering around London in general
• And seeing Wicked!...in London
• Exploring Canterbury and having tea with my parents' older friends

I'm sure I am missing SO many things, but if I go on, this list could get ridiculous.

Bummers?

• Rain. In almost every city. For at least half of our trip.
• Traveling every few days
• Sketchy hotels way outside of major cities

My Cousin's Wedding

On Saturday, I went to my cousin's wedding in Nevada City, CA. It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony, and I wore this little polka dotted number. I pretty much chose it because it was comfortable. I tried on a couple dresses before this one that completely crushed my lungs. I guess they say pain is beauty...or is it beauty is pain?...anyway, I disagree. 

The day before we headed up to Nevada City, my mom and I got pedicures at a local nail salon called Color Me Green. It's an eco-friendly salon that smells amazing, serves tea, and uses natural polishes. Definitely a more relaxing experience than a regular nail salon! I highly recommend seeking out a green place in your area. You'll love it. And so will the environment.

Anyway, here are a few shots with the familia from the wedding. I'll post some tourist shots later this week. 

The wedding was beautiful, as were the bride an groom! It's always exciting adding a new person to the family.

Black and White and (Pinkish) Red All Over

So last week, I wrote a post about how I was going out of town and wouldn't be able to post for a bit. Then I realized that post never actually published. Oops! Anyway, I was off the radar in Nevada City for a few days for my cousin's wedding. Photos to come soon! 

In the meantime, however, here is an outfit I wore last week. This flowy skirt makes me want to twirl, but I discovered that means flashing everyone so I've been trying to resist. I'll just have to twirl when no one is around. 

Marc is out of town this week, so you can probably expect less outfit posts and more random posts. Unless I can convince the puppies to take pictures...we'll see. 

What do you do when you're home alone for a week? I'm thinking a Harry Potter or chick flick marathon may keep me entertained...

Neon Shorts

I've always been kind of obsessed with bright pink. I'm not a girl who wears a ton of pink, but for some reason, I can't seem to resist it in a neon hue. 

So here's the short story behind my quest to track down these shorts. I saw them a while ago in Target, loved them, but was in a hurry and didn't have time to try them on. Then I went back specifically for the shorts, but much to may dismay, they were gone in my size. Went to another Target. Gone in my size. Finally made it to the store after they were restocked and snatched them up immediately. Then I got them home and didn't know what to wear them with. 

Good story, right? Anyway, here they are paired with white and teal. I promise I'll work on getting more creative with them. After so much effort, they better make me like a thousand more outfits. Okay, that's a little unrealistic, I'll settle with five or ten. 

And sorry for the weird foot picture, but my toes are neon and today's EBEW link-up is neon. So I thought I'd share.

For some reason, June always feels like a really busy month. This is the first year June hasn't marked the end of the school year for me, but for whatever reason, the last couple weeks have still seemed pretty chaotic. Hopefully once things calm down a bit (after my cousin's wedding maybe?) I'll get back to a more regular posting schedule. 

Now a quick ode to these shoes, because I'm kind of in love with them. I have a few pair of comfortable wedges that I can wear all day easy peasy, but these just blew all those out of the water. They have about a half an inch of fluffy cushion on the insole that feels like a foam mattress. Not that I could put a glass of wine on one side and jump on the other, but they have that same 'mold' type texture. I highly recommend hunting them down. Your feet will thank you.
