Hello 2013

My Threads: Dress: Abercrombie & Fitch, Sweater: H&M (similar), Booties: Lauren Ralph Lauren, Bag: Calvin Klein, Watch: Michael Kors (similar)

Well, we've just about made it to 2013. No zombie apocalypse. At least, not so far.

2012 was a whirlwind. It seemed to go by in a flash! But it was a pretty good year.

So cheers to 2013! I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year!

Fancy Pants

My Threads: Sweater: Forever 21, Shirt: Macy's (similar), Jacket: H&M, Leggings: Aeropostale (similar), Booties: Target, Clutch: Forever 21 (similar), Watch: Michael Kors (similar)

I can't stop wearing this Eiffel Tower sweater. Yes, it's comfortable, but I think I mostly just wear it to pretend I'm back in Europe. Eating croissants and baguettes and feeling fancy. Plus, my dad is going to France for work in a few months, and I'm trying to subtly convince him to take me with him. Subliminal messaging, you know.

Just to be clear, I don't usually make a point of wearing leggings as pants. They totally work on some people, but they kind of just make me feel jiggly. I got these with a gift card, though, and I thought they were totally New Year's Eve-ish. So I whipped them out! And they're really not that bad.

Hope you have an amazing weekend!

The Sister Act

My Threads: Dress: Nordstrom Rack, Sweater: a local boutique (similar), Tights: H&M (similar), Booties: Lauren Ralph Lauren, Necklace: J.Crew Factory, Bag: street market in Italy, Bracelets: Forever21, Watch: Michael Kors (similar), Belt: Target

I took sort of an unintentional break from blogging this week. Things just get so crazy over Christmas, I never have enough time to get everything done. Mostly because I'm busy stuffing my face with cookies. But also because I always put off shopping and have to sing and cook. Not while shopping. All separate events.

I did force Marc to take a few pictures over the break, though! I told him it could be part of my Christmas present. But he had already given me pearl earrings, and I gave him a Bob-It, so he didn't exactly owe me any favors. (Don't worry, I didn't just get him a Bop-It. But I didn't get him pearls either.)

Anyway, I dragged my sister into a couple shots the other day. Judging by the pictures, she wasn't too happy about it. Most of the pictures we ended up with were of us waving our arms or conversing. But here's one with both of us looking forward. Doesn't Julie look cool? We pretend the runs in her tights are intentional. People go with it. Except my mom, who suggested I buy Julie new tights for Christmas.

Hope you all had a very merry holiday! And are recovering nicely from all the sugar.

I hope you have an amazing Christmas! This super cheesy photo is my gift to you. Not a great one, hopefully your friends and family did a little better.

Thanks for reading!

Pass the Cookies

My Threads: Shirt: Aeropostale (similar), Sweater: H&M, Jeans: Hollister, Boots: Steve Madden, Wristlet: Coach (similar), Necklace: J.Crew Factory, Bracelets: Forever 21, Watch: Michael Kors

This week has been pure insanity, so I'll keep this one short. (Marc keeps nudging me, trying not to let me fall asleep while writing.)

This outfit is definitely one of my favorites for holiday festivities. At least for more casual get-togethers. The jeans are super stretchy, and the sweater is a little big and baggy. Perfect for expanding with all the yummy cookies and turkey!

Hope you have a Happy Friday! Only three more days to cram in last minute shopping and holiday movie watching. I better get a move on.

P.S. I totally have been eyeing potential zombie weapons today.

Christmas Turtle

My Threads: Sweater: H&M (similar), Pants: GoJane (similar), Pumps: Jessica Simpson (similar), Clutch: H&M (similar in pink), Bracelets: Charming Charlie, Watch: Michael Kors (similar

So this is maroon, not red. I do realize that. But maroon is sort of like red, which makes it sort of Christmas-y. And I doubled up on the hue. Because Maroon x 2 obviously = red. So there you have it, my holiday outfit math.

I really love how cozy turtlenecks are in colder weather, but they kind of make me feel claustrophobic. Plus, I have a gigantic head. In fact, those are the first words I heard when I was born. "What a big head." Not that I actually remember them. Anyway, it's actually hard to find turtlenecks that fit over my head. I know, big brain problems. I'm kidding.

Also, after a lengthy internal debate, I finally gave into faux leather pants. They aren't the most practical pants, but they do lend this chunky turtleneck an extra ounce of cool.

Happy Thursday!

Baby, It's Cold Outside

My Threads: Dress: Abercrombie & Fitch, Trench: H&M (similar), Tights: H&M, Booties: Lauren Ralph Lauren, Wristlet: Coach (similar), Gloves: H&M (similar), Necklace: Forever 21

This outfit kind of reminds me of a Christmas Tree. A green (striped) a-line dress with brown on the bottom. I originally had green tights on with this outfit, but then I looked more like The Grinch. And Christmas trees are generally nicer than The Grinch. So I changed.

Over the last few weeks, the temperature in LA has dropped from the high 70s to the low 50s. Naturally, I've started piling on the scarves. And what did I find hanging from a hook under a pile of scarves the other day? This little wristlet. I've had it for a long time, and I had completely forgotten it was buried under a pile of winter warmth. So thank you for the rediscovery, cold weather.

I do not thank you for the red nose, dry hands, and chilly winds, though. The warm weather lasted so long this year, I forgot how uncomfortable it is to be cold.

Those of you in the snow, I'm so sorry. I totally shouldn't complain. Your pictures look way prettier though!

Hope you have a happy Hump Day! Less than a week until Christmas. I better get my shop on.

Love Actually is All Around

My Threads: Top: Old Navy (similar), Jeans: Ross, Blazer: H&M (check your local store), Pumps: Target, Clutch: Forever 21 (similar), Bracelets: Charming Charlie, Watch: Michael Kors (similar

Here's holiday outfit numero dos. This jacket looks more green in person. Or close up. Also, I apologize for all the wind.

On to more important things. Every year, I watch the movie Love Actually around Christmas. Of course it's cute and hilarious, but mostly it's the ultimate story about love.

In the wake of Friday's tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary, it's so easy to be angry, frustrated, and just devastated. And while those feelings are appropriate and will help bring about change, it's also important to see love. And to remember to love.

So here's my favorite quote from Love Actually. (Obviously, in my best British accent.)

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around."

Now go give everyone you know a giant bear hug!

(I also noticed Shanna posted this quote today.)

Candy Cane

My Threads: Dress: Hollister (similar), Coat: H&M (similar), Booties: Target, Hat: H&M (similar), Clutch: Forever 21 (similar), Watch: Michael Kors (similar)

This week, I'm going to attempt to post a holiday-ish look everyday. By holiday-ish, I mean outfits that feature some shade that is similar to red or green. Because I hardly own anything red, and I wore my two green sweaters last week. So I may have to fake it a little.

Just to start off on the right foot, let me clarify that this dress is actually red and white striped. Like a candy cane. But from far away, it looks pink. And by far away, I mean just a couple feet. The stripes are really just blurring together, though, to prevent you from craving peppermint hook-shaped sugar.

I'd also just like to state that this outfit would probably look better with tights. And be warmer. Because let's face it, I was freezing with this on in 60 degree weather. I'm from California, don't judge. Anyway, my only clean tights were green, which probably would have been festive overkill. Oh well, next time.

Come Visit Me

My Threads: Dress (worn as skirt): TJ Maxx, Sweater: Forever 21 (similar), Tights: H&M, Scarf: Not sure, Belt: Target, Booties: Lauren Ralph Lauren (on sale!), Bag: Calvin Klein, Bracelets: Charming Charlie, Watch: Michael Kors (similar)

I'm guest posting today for the amazing Jordin on her adorable blog, I Love That! The topic? What to wear on Christmas Eve! You should definitely come visit

My Threads: Sweater: Old Navy (sold out online, similar), Shirt: GoJane (similar), Jeans: Ross (old), Clutch: Forever 21 (similar), Pumps: Calvin Klein, Bracelets: Charming Charlie, Necklace: Forever 21,  Watch: Michael Kors (similar)

Remember that day I said I was dressed like someone's two-year-old son? This is what I was wearing. Except I had flats on and no bracelets. I've decided I'm okay with this, though. Foxes are just cool, and anyone of any age should be able to appreciate them plastered on cozy sweaters, right? Plus, that was a pretty stylish kid.

This time around, I was sure to add some accessories to make it clear that I'm not two years old. Or a boy. Hopefully my height and hair help clear up any confusion.

On another note, I'm way behind on Christmas shopping. As in, I got one tiny present for one person. And that's it. Last weekend, I attempted a holiday shopping trip, but I blacked out and when I came to, I was leaving H&M with some new clothes. For myself. Oops.

Next weekend, it's on, Christmas list. Be ready.

Monday, December 10, 2012

My Threads: Shirt: GoJane (similar), Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch, Sweater: Abercrombie & Fitch, Boots: Reflections (old), Bag: Coach (similar style), Necklace & Belt: Forever 21, Watch: Michael Kors (similar)

So I think mist might be the most awkward kind of weather. It's damp and drizzly, but not enough to use an umbrella. At least without people thinking you're a wimp. But it also makes hair frizzy, curly, and wet, and it makes your clothes feel wet. We had literally been outside for about a minute when we took these, and my hair was already starting to look like I had just stuck my finger in an electrical socket. Okay, that's probably an exaggeration. But the moisture wasn't doing it any favors.

And just to continue with the hair rant, I finally got my hair cut Saturday (after these pictures were taken), and I didn't realize I had gotten completely used to just seeing out of one eye. I am happy to report that I have restored vision to my left eye again.

Also, I've been loving green lately. It compliments so many other colors, plus it's perfect for camouflaging. Since I spend so much time in trees and bushes.

Hope you had a great weekend!
