RetailMeNot Spring Fashion Challenge

I'm a girl who loves a great deal, so I was ecstatic when RetailMeNot invited me to participate in their Spring Fashion Challenge. If you aren't familiar with their site, they list coupons and sales from tons of retailers. Whether you're shopping in store or online, they probably have a slew of coupons for all your favorite shops.

RetailMeNot was kind enough to send us $100 to create an outfit using coupons and sales from their site. And that money went a long way, thanks to all the amazing deals! Since I decided to shop in store for my outfit, I downloaded the RetailMeNot app and printed a few coupons before I headed to the mall. The app was perfect for for finding sales while I was out and about. And I could even get some of the coupons texted to my phone. Talk about convenient, right?

Since the challenge was to create a spring look, I went for a floral sundress as the basis of my outfit. Florals scream spring. And sundresses are perfect for exploring gardens, picnics in the park, graduation ceremonies, and brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Actually, I'm going to go out on a limb and say floral sundresses are perfect for pretty much any spring event.
The thing I love about floral dress is their versatility. They can be dressed down with a denim jacket and sandals, or dressed up with heels and a clutch. Every girl should have at least one for spring! Or preferably ten.

Roses Are Red

My Threads: Tee: Abercrombie & Fitch (similar), Pants: H&M (similar), Heels: c/o JustFab, Clutch: H&M (similar), Necklace: J.Crew Factory, Bracelets: Francesca's, J.Crew Factory
Watch: Michael Kors

I've been spotting roses blooming everywhere lately, and thought they'd be perfect for outfit pictures. Except not so much when your pants have flowers on them. Guess what happens. Your legs blend in, and you look like a floating torso. With shoes on.

Every spring, I get so excited about wearing florals, you'd think they were going out of style. If they did, though, half my closet would be devastated. And so would I. So maybe we should just all decide we'll always wear florals. Agreed? Good.

Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

P.S. Don't forget to get your favorite accessory ready for the link-up with Pursuit of Pink on Thursday!

My Threads: Tee: Target, Skirt: J.Crew Factory, Scarf: J.Crew, Flats: Ivanka Trump via Marshalls (similar), Belt: Forever 21, Bag: Street market in Florence, Bracelets: Francesca's, J.Crew Factory

I don't know if you've noticed, but I kind of like nautical things. A little bit. Okay, a lot a bit. I scored this scarf at J.Crew on major sale, then realized it matched my striped mini when I got home. What?! It's like they were made for each other.

Anyway, I'm now ready to head to the beach and jump an a boat. Anyone have a yacht I can borrow? It would look really cute with my outfit! Thanks.

And I just have to say, I've been totally hooked on HGTV lately. I definitely won't be buying a house anytime soon (hello LA cost of living), but a girl can dream, right? Someday, I will have my billion dollar home. With eco-friendly everything and nautical decor, of course.

Happy Friday!

And feel free to keep up with all my weekend adventures on Instagram

Neon and Neutrals

My Threads: Sweater: Gap, Skirt: H&M (similar), Pumps: Target, Bag: Calvin Klein, Necklace: J.Crew Factory, Bracelets: J.Crew Factory, Forever 21, Watch: Michael Kors

Confession: I love neon pink. Admitting it is the first step, right? If a store existed with all thinks neon pink, I'd probably buy everything in it. In which case, I might as well buy the store itself. Anyone want to open a store with me someday that just sells neon and polka dots? We could occasionally throw in a few stripes and florals, too. I think it'd be a hit. If only I knew anything about owning or running a store.

Anyway, I've been attempting to do a little spring cleaning this week, and it's made me rediscover things in my closet I haven't worn much. In fact, this skirt is probably a year old and still had the tags on it. I wouldn't dare put stripes into the donate bag, so I finally figured out how to wear it. Funny how cleaning makes you get creative, huh?

I also tried to get creative with my shoe organization, but that didn't work out so well. 5-inch tall shelves don't hold 5-inch heels. I failed to account for the 2-ish inch back of the shoe. Major fail. I'm giving the shelves to Marc. His shoes are generally a bit flatter. Generally.

Happy Thursday!

Embracing My Inner Animal

My Threads: Blouse: H&M (similar), Skirt: H&M (similar), Booties: Ralph Lauren, Bag: Calvin Klein, Belt: Forever 21, Necklace: Forever 21, Bracelets: J.Crew Factory, Forever 21, Watch: Michael Kors

Leopard and lace! Might be one of my favorite combinations since anchors and...well, anything. Especially when you add in pink. Or coral, which is close enough.

I have to admit, I used to be terrified of animal prints. Especially leopard print. Aside from a little leopard purse someone gave me in middle school, I don't think I owned any animal print until pretty recently. I think I was just scared of looking like Janice. Or Cruella De Vil. Or something. But after much blog stalking and quite a few deep breaths, I've slowly been integrating a little leopard into my closet. I think my closet is pretty glad.

Also, this skirt is gigantic. I think I was hopeful that it would shrink between the time I tried it on and the time I bought it. But no such luck. Apparently, that isn't a thing. I guess we should just be grateful it didn't slip to my knees while taking pictures. Or while anyone was walking by. That would have been difficult to explain.

Happy Hump Day!

My Threads: Dress: H&M, Flats: Ivanka Trump via Marshall's (similar), Bag: Calvin Klein, Necklace: J.Crew Factory, Bracelets: Francesca's, J.Crew Factory, Watch: Michael Kors

Oh, the shift dress. I avoided this little cut for a long time, but finally gave in. Okay, I actually have about four other shift dresses, but i never wear them without a belt. So I guess the real revelation here is that I'm wearing a shift dress without a belt. I know, mind blowing.

I guess I decided long ago that shift cuts don't work on people with minimal curves on the upper half. But I just couldn't resist this print. It's just so...fun. Because I can't think of a better descriptive word at the moment.

Also, the color in these pictures is kind of weird. You probably noticed. I tried to fix it, but I may have made it worse. Not that I'm complaining, but the little city I live in is really green. Everywhere. You can't escape it. And while it's nice to look at, it kind of makes for weird colored photos. I need some sand and ocean! Maybe the beach should migrate inland a little bit. Or just cost less to live by.

Hope you had a happy weekend!

Also, don't forget to do nice, green things for the earth today!

Fashion With a Heart

Last weekend, Alejandra, the designer of Leg Candy, invited me to come to an open house event at Convergence World Boutique. Convergence is an amazing store that sells all socially conscious items. They have everything from clothes to lotion to headphones, all that support the environment, local artists, a humanitarian cause, or are certified Fair Trade.

As someone who has worked a lot with non-profits and done a lot of volunteer work, I love a company with a good cause. In the past, it seemed a little harder to find a company with good CSR. But oh my gosh. Everything at Convergence is absolutely adorable, amazing quality, and obviously totally guilt free. I'd say it's a win win situation for everyone.

I've been an advocate of shopping Fair Trade for a long time (thanks Mom!), and I'm loving that it's becoming so easy to find!

So if you live in the LA or OC area, you definitely need to make a visit to this little boutique. If you aren't local, you can shop their online store! Thank you, technology.

P.S. Sorry for the dark photos, my camera doesn't like to cooperate indoors.

P.P.S. Start collecting your favorite accessories, because I'm teaming up with Lindsay of Pursuit of Pink for an accessories link-up on May 2!
